The Co. Fleadh is always a special occasion. It is the biggest
gathering of musicians and followers of traditional music
within the county and is always a very enjoyable occasion.
This year the Fleadh has changed from 3 days to 6 days
There is a wide variety of events organised and there is
something for everyone. On Sat the competitions run all day
in St. Aloysius Secondary School, from 10.00 am. They are
for all age groups and all traditional instruments. The competitions
always provide excellent quality and are open to the public.
Although the competitions provide the main focus for the
fleadh but there are other non-musical events organised.
There are dance workshops for both the beginners and the
more experienced dancers in both Ceili and Set Dancing.
We also have a singing night in Jonnie Joes on the Thursday
night.
Friday is Fleadh Concert night with a host of talent lined
up for your entertainment.
There is a walk organised for Sunday morning to show off
some of the best scenery in the Glens.
On Sunday afternoon we have an open air concert in the beautiful
setting of the new Cottage Wood Park. It is an idyllic setting
overlooking Red Bay.
Excellent Music song and dance will be performed by Comhaltas
groups and others from around the County. On top of all of
this there will be many impromptu sessions taking place in
the local streets and pubs.
The organising committee would like to thank all who have
supported the Fleadh either financially or any other way.
